Home Theater Sound Bars Can Turn Hum Drum Flat Screen TV Speakers Into An Amazing Experience.

The very nature of a flat screen TV like a plasma or a LCD dictates that the speaker quality can not be impressive. If you ever took a TV apart you can plainly see that these speakers are barely an 1″ deep. How can you get quality sound from such speakers. The answer is you really can’t. That is why movie enthusiasts like us look at adding surround sound speakers to an existing Plasma TV.
But here is the thing.
What if you live in an apartment & can’t begin to cut holes and begin to start running home theater speaker wires for all 5 of your surround sound speakers?
Or perhaps you just do not want to have speakers all over your living room?
Then a sound bar may be the answer to your dilemma.
Imagine if you will a single speaker bar anywhere from 24″ to 40″ or more that delivers the front left and right channel as well as the center channel delivery. These speaker bars also give you a “virtual surround sound effect” so the sound appears to becoming from behind you.
Some things you need to know about Sound Bars
- Many of these models have built-in amplification, so you won’t need a separate receiver or amp. (These will cost more)
- What you say you have a surround sound receiver? Then you will need to choose a sound bar that doesn’t have any built-in amplifier. (as you can imagine these will cost less than there counter parts)
- Is your room square or rectangular room with four traditional walls, then you might want the sound bars that work by “beaming” sound around the room and bouncing it off walls. (This is important since these won’t be as effective in a home with an open floor plan.)
- Did you say you have a home with an “open layout”? Then you may want the kind of sound bar give you a “virtual surround sound” by fooling your ears into thinking the sound is coming from behind you.
- Don’t forget to add a subwoofer! The sub can give you the bass you are looking for in those action movies with special effects. By the way… Yes, the sound bars allow you to connect a sub to them. Some come with a little wireless sub you can use. But for best results use a hard wired one.
